CIBC CLUB COMPETITION RULES
SUBSTITUTES
The players named on the first scorecard submitted will constitute the team. Substitutes will be allowed but must not skip and must not have played for another team in the same competition (even as a substitute).
In Mixed Triples, one Lady OR one Man may be used as a substitute.
In Mixed Fours, one Lady AND one Man may be used as substitutes.
PLAY-BY DATES
Play-by dates will be published by the Competition Secretary on the Club noticeboard and website.
CHALLENGING
The first-named player in the draw is the challenger. The challenger must offer their opponent two dates – a weekday and a weekend date (excluding Bank holidays).
The challenger will provide a marker for singles matches.
Challenges must be made within 3 days of either the competition start date or the closing date of the previous round. The opponent must accept one of the dates offered within 3 clear days of receipt of the challenge.
If an initial challenge is not made on time, the second-named player becomes the challenger and, likewise, must offer 2 dates within 3 days.
A challenge may be declined only if both dates offered clash with national/county representative matches, national/county team competitions, or national/county Champion of Champions that have been booked previously.
A player not accepting a valid challenge will forfeit the game. If neither player issues a challenge, both players will be eliminated.
REARRANGING MATCHES
Any re-arranged game must be by mutual consent.
CONCEDING MATCHES
Any player (singles) or team conceding a match after winning the previous match could incur a one-year ban from club competitions unless an acceptable reason is given such as illness or accident by more than 1 player (holidays etc is not an acceptable reason).
CANCELLED MATCHES
Any match cancelled without 5 days’ notice via the Competition Secretary will incur the
rink fee cost.
Any team not turning up for a match will incur the rink fee cost.
Any team not turning up, and not advising their opponents, may incur a one-year ban from entering Club competitions.
MATCH DURATION
2-wood and 4-wood Singles = 21 shots
Pairs and Fours = 21 ends (except Novice Pairs: 2-hour session until final)
Triples = 18 ends
KILLED ENDS
Killed ends shall be replayed i.e., no re-spotting of the jack.
SCORE
Scorecards must be completed in full, the details should be checked and signed by both skips/players and placed in the box provided for the Competition Secretary.
Match score must be entered/confirmed by both skips in the Bowlr system immediately after the match has finished.
CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Entrants to the Men’s Singles, Ladies Singles, Men’s Pairs and Ladies Pairs competitions enter on the understanding that they are expected to represent the Club in the County and National Champion of Champions competitions should they win the Club competition.
No substitutes are allowed in County or National Champion of Champions competitions.
FINALS
Club finals MUST be played in black trousers/skirt/shorts with a Club shirt.
It is the responsibility of individual members to withdraw from a competition IMMEDIATELY if they know they will not be available to play in the Final. Failure to do so may incur a one-year ban from entering Club competitions.
Alteration to a scheduled final may only be made if the date clashes with a National/County finals date. Requests for alternative arrangements must be made by the players(s) involved to the Competition Secretary.
