At the weekend CIBC and Clacton BC clashed in Denny Cup action. Each club had a win and a loss on their home rinks. CIBC emerged as the victors due to the fact that they, twice, lost narrowly and won big, resulting in an overall shot count of 80 -50.
At home skip James Rippey, Andrew Penfold, Geoff King and Darren Dellar started brilliantly to lead 6-0 after two ends. After eight ends they were behind 8-12 but a 5 and a 1 saw them leading 14-12 two ends later. The balance of the final ends were dominated by the visitors, including a 5 at the fourteenth. Victory to Clacton, 18-22.

CIBC won home shot count 46-29.
At Clacton CIBC skip Andy Squires played with Brian Smith, Martin Hogg and Mark Tokley, they led 6-1 after five ends and had what looked like a comfortable 11-4 lead after eleven ends. However, only scoring once over the next six ends enabled Clacton to fire up and produce an adrenalin fueled finish grabbing a thrilling 13-14 victory.
Meanwhile, on the second away rink Shaun Cook, Brian Finney, Matt Lace and Andy Smith were taking no prisoners. They led 7-3 after six ends and 16-4 after twelve. They then had a three end hiccup where they did not score but came back with 5 shots over last two ends to win 21-7.
