CIBC Fall Short In County Action

This passed weekend CIBC were in County League action against Barking. Although CIBC won on two of three home rinks the shot count favoured the visitors, 57-58. In Barking the home team also won on two of the rinks and also took the shot count, 54-63. Overall it was 111-121 in Barkings favour and 10 points to 3 in Barkings favour. In a number of the games Barking were able inflict a string of scoreless ends on their opponents which helped them win the overall shot count.

At home CIBC skip Darren Dellar had in his team Mick Barrett, Peter Knight and Peter Pushman. They got off to a great start taking 5 shots on the first end, then 2 more on the third. However, Barking skip R. Hughes and his team M. Frost, B. Carter and T. Brooks had not come just to watch, and after nine ends scores were level at 9-9. It seems CIBC did not sense any emergency down the line. They won the tenth end and the thirteenth but then had five scoreless ends to find themselves down 12-23 after eighteen ends. Barking won 15-27.

Skip James Rippey played with Brian Smith, Alf Comerford and Paul Hills. They got off to a good start and led 6-2 after four ends. Matters did not really improve for the visiting skip B. Henry and his team P. Nelson, D. Toussant and B. Nelson as after seven ends CIBC were 14-3 ahead. Although the visitors more than tripled their score in the second half of the game CIBC won comfortably 25-15.

Skip Elliot Mann had in his team David Mann, Alan Ghent and Dave Fisher. They galloped off to a 12-2 lead in just nine ends. However, although the visitors skipped by P. Whelhams, and team A. Griggs, C. Dennis and W. Allen, only managed to score twice in nine ends they restricted CIBC to only scoring three times in the final twelve ends. CIBC still won 17-16.

Away from home Andy Smith had in his team Brian Finney, Ian Harris, and Tom Smith. After a 6 to Barking on the sixth end they were 3-11 down. Over the remaining ends the scores were very even with CIBC scoring 13shots to 14 by Barking who won the match 16-25.

Dan Rodger played with Martin Hogg, Ian Reeves and Jamie Coleman. They took the lead with a 3 on the first end and never lost it. They won 13 of the ends with a 4 and a couple of 3’s while the opponents never managed more than a 2 on any end. CIBC won 24-12.

Bradley Mann played with Paul Mann, Kevin Smith and Nigel Jenner. They started well winning three of the first four ends (6-3) but after six ends it was 6-6. They won the next two ends but then suffered eight scoreless ends to find themselves 9-22 behind and only five more ends to play. They went on to lose 14-26.
